The boot camp taught me many different skills in art. I learned about drawing perspective and using dark or light tones to give drawings a 3-Dimensional look. I learned different ways to use watercolor and ways to give it some texture. With the clay, I learned about how to add texture. Print-making showed me that even just taping a bunch of trash together can make artwork.
My most successful project was either the drawing or painting. I got many compliments on the way I used the pencil to incorporate the wooden texture into the drawing and I was complimented on my choice of colors for the painting. I was actually pretty surprised about how well I did on the painting because I haven't painted a picture in years. The clay, unfortunately, was not my favorite project. I'd done clay before in 7th grade, which I didn't enjoy much either. The problem I had with clay was that I felt like I didn't have much control over how it looked. The clay was starting to dry out so it was harder to manipulate. Painting the clay tile was kind of frustrating because it was very messy and hard to get into the tiny crevices. Print-Making wasn't hard at all. I think anybody could glue random items to some cardboard, paint over it, and print it. It didn't look very flattering, but I guess that's to be expected.
The project from the boot camp I enjoyed the most was either the drawing or the painting. With the drawing, you can easily erase something and try again, and I enjoyed blending. I thought painting was enjoyable because I liked mixing the different colors and just the feel of painting was kind of nice.
